Issue Position: Sustainable Energy and the Bay

Issue Position

Date: Dec. 26, 2013
Issues: Energy

Sustainable energy is important, not only for the needs of present generations, but for their children and all future generations as well. This includes wind energy, solar power, and geothermal energy, among many other technologies that utilize what the earth has to offer to provide renewable energy sources. There has been significant research into all of these energy sources, especially lately, now that America has become obsessed with the notion of "going green". Investing in clean, sustainable energy sources is a move that will undoubtedly improve the environment of a country that has been so polluted in the past.

But what does this mean for Marylanders? The Chesapeake Bay is considered by many to be Maryland's most valuable resource, environmentally, economically and for recreation. Thinking about ecological preservation on a smaller scale, it is important that we do what we can to protect the Chesapeake Bay. We can even think of the Bay as an important resource for green energy such as hydroelectricity. Michael Gisriel supports responsible and common sense efforts to restore the Bay and t clean up the sources pollution it has been rife with for too many years. Michael Gisriel has the experience and knowledge needed to work with the many diverse groups and citizens who will only benefit from clean and productive Chesapeake Bay.
